Car Cover Options

Hi Guys,

I need to buy a cover to cover my very leaky roofed CTI! Unfortunately funds don't permit my to buy a quality one for £150+ I bought a cheap one from ebay for a tenner and it lets more water in than you would believe! I have tried searching the forum but the recommendations are for the expensive ones, and like i said unfortunately budget doesn't stretch that far

I have seen this one from ECP:

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/winter-essentials/winter-maintenance/car-covers/?549778621&0&cc5_112

I know it wont be the best quality but hopefully it would do a job, or can anyone suggest something for a similar amount of money? I was just thinking about buying a tarpaulin and some bungee straps as the cars not in use, so the cover would only need to come off to do work on the car anyway.

Thanks

John

Assuming you are wanting the car on the road at some point, would you not be better to spend the money you are planning to buy a cover with, by putting it towards a new roof for the car? Do not put a tarp over it, as they will rub through the paint.

Hi Tom,

I have a 2nd hand roof and frame waiting to go on, its just a matter of having the confidence to do it. Is it a pretty much a straight swap over? Do any parts need to be saved from the old one?

Thanks

John

Just use a tarp with bungee cords. I have heavy fabric cover and it keeps the water out but is a massive faff to get on and off.

I just use a 4 quid tarp and bungees now if I need it covered.

I got a halfords one last October for £50. Worked great over winter. Stayed secure as it has 3 straps. Fully waterproof and breathable. No damage to paintwork. I would recommend.

I have bought 2 Hilka covers from Ebay.

Small fits 205s the medium one fits 309s. There were £21.99 posted. Only been on a few days but are waterproof, UV protected and fit well with a bungee (not supplied)fitted under the car using the 2 stitched in loops they are taught too. They are far better than the £10 ones I have bought previously.

If you can cover up just the roof.

I would wash, polish and put a long lasting coat of wax on the bodywork.

Much prefer the car to get wet and dry naturally than a cover which would trap water, moisture and damage the paintwork when rubbing about in the wind.
