Dipstick And Tube

I am now at the point in getting the last things together for my mi16 (xu9j4) conversion and I think I've misplaced the dipstick and tube that came with the engine. I do have one off of my 1.9 gti engine and was wondering if anyone had managed to bend the tube and use this instead?

 

After looking on the forum I've found the 8v dipstick is longer than the mi16 one, with the mi16 lengths being:

 

445 Max

468 Min

 

Would I be ok marking and cutting down the dipstick? Also would the tube be OK being pushed into the block and not bolted (as the tab doesn't currently line up with anything) or would the crank case pressure push it out?

 

I think it'll probably be easier sticking up a wanted ad and getting one off of here but as I have this one sitting here I thought I'd ask the question.

Now the dipsticks are NLA for that engine and I have had some in the past and got over £40 for one.

I'll keep that in mind Farmer but I'm going to see if anyone else has used the 8v one first and have a go at that.
