How Many Owners?!?

Recommended Posts

Kept an eye on this particular one myself.

The pictures in the advert show it is in poor condition all over inside and out, so I'm not surprised by your review.

It's not the sort of example worth bringing back to a decent standard, but for someone with the right contacts it could be a half decent buy.

Best thing to do is weigh up the rough cost of returning it to former glory and correcting all the bodged jobs on it. Then add that to what the seller wants and if the total takes it to the rough value of a 205 GTI already in the condition you wish to achieve then it could be worthwhile. IF the seller wants a ridiculous amount for what it is and the cost of putting it right is too much then sadly it isn't worth it. Hopefully the seller will learn to price it right rather than scrapping it if it is overpriced as I hate hearing about a 205 GTI going for scrap no matter what.

As for owners...I'm number 12 I think. Doesn't really reflect much though. The previous owner only had it for a month and didn't really do anything with it before needing to sell. Turned out he was the one who outbid me when trying to buy it from the owner previous to him, who had owned the car for several years and had looked after some aspects but not others. Don't be put off by the number of previous owners as, more often than not with an old car, there'll be plenty of them.

Sounds like its only good for spares. If you can find rot, there will be much more hidden.

The red paint showing through will be an example of a bad respray. Chances are the car was originally red.

I HPI'd it and it was originally blue. It wasn't an obvious cut'n'shut either.

It is a lot worse than the pictures make out somehow! I'll put a few up if you'd like?
