Clarion Radio

Hi,

Finally worked out the wiring and the stereo works but is it right that even when the radio is turned off by the button the radio still displays the radio frequency, no sound just the numbers on the screen, these go when ignition turned off.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Thanks

It is possible , on the back of some Clarion models there is a fuse link on the out-side .There are two options for the fuse and by swapping the fuse over to the other connection you might find that it changes the on/off - standby mode .

Sounds like you have wired live to either electrical antenna or illumination wire on the radio. No thats not normal

The back only had one fuse and I can't see where else it may fit?

Does anyone have any idea what wire I may have got wrong?

All the wires from the stereo have a home and it appears to have only live, earth and speaker wires

It's a clarion. Pu_9469a, going into phase 1.5

Thanks

Can you post a pic of your wires as they come out of the radio and any plug on the end of them?

I thought you would have had 10 minimum.

If I was trying to work it out I'd

Bell out from fuse holder to end of loom to find feed (maybe need to try variations of on/off switch and try both ends of fuse holder.

Bell out from chassis to end of loom to hopefully only find one (main) earth.

Find main suppy from car using ignition.

Find illumination wire if fitted using light switch.

Wire up and make live.

Bell out from car loom to speakers to find each pair.

Using L&R and F&R functions, find each speaker out on stereo loom, and connect accordingly.

I just checked a clarion i have in my garage and it has 10 wires albeit a different model.

Does it work if you just wire up red and black? Blue is usually electric aerial. White could be illumination or memory
