Changing Internal Wiring Looms Cti Gti

Recommended Posts

Rolando

hello, I've just been taking the engine loom out of my phase1 CTI and the started taking the cracked dash apart to find every single screw was a wood screw and someone had been in there cutting and taping loads of wires adding central locking and electric windows by the looks of it :(

so now the dash is near enough all out, i'm considering changing the whole lot (dash, internal loom) for a phase 2 set up.

i know its not the easiest of jobs but as said everything has been lashed together and the dash its self is falling apart.

what i was to know is, will i have to replace the loom with a GTI loom or can i find a base model loom and use that?

any help would be great thanks Ro

What ever car you take the dashboard from you will need its wiring too. phase 1 wiring is completely different to phase 1.5/2. don't think it matters about the rest of the wiring model wise

ahh yeh thats fair enough. i was just hoping to pick up a base model phase 2 cheap and use all of that but didn't know if the wiring was the same between base model and GTI phase 2's? would make my life easier if it was. wish i could keep it original but everything has been lashed up and hacked apart!!!

Most of the gti dash guages are gti guages and arent included in base models so no wires for them

is that for definite? i wasn't sure if they just stuck the same loom through out the phase 1.5/2 models for ease rather than having 2/3 different internal looms for different spec 205's?

dash wiring looms are model specific. for instance some models dont have a temperature guage, some dont have the oil pressure guage and some dont have a rev counter. interior loom wise some dont have central locking or electric windows. 3/5 door differences as well. fusebox is the same on them all I think but a few connections are made differently
