Satch Shift Hlp

Recommended Posts

hello all

firstly i would like to apologise for the error in the topic title,

Secondly im having some trouble with the satchshift, the product is brilliant and i fear the issue is something of my doing but

basically i can only get 3rd and 4th. from what i can see the actuator that is operated by moving the stick left and

right doesn't seem to move far enough for me to be able to engage the other gears. if i use the other selector on

the back of the gearbox i can get all the gears and the stick seems to follow suit, but they will not engage when using the stick,

so my question is how likely is it that i have either damaged or moved the selector when replacing the arm, and would this

cause my issue? it didnt drop into the box but it did move when installing and the roll pins have gone back in.

Many thanks

Rob

when I changed my selector arm over is was very easy for the whole thing to pop out. Infact it disengages from the gearbox when pulled out or pushed too far in. It is easy when fitting the new arm to push it too far in.

I had to remove the powdercoating from the inside of the arm and gently push it on by moving side to side with a bit of grease. Definitely worth disconnecting your gear rods from the selector arms and double checking it engages gears when operating the arms by hand from inside the engine bay.

once you have it working be sure to spend some time setting up the gear rod length and also the length of the rod-end attached to the subframe. It takes a while to get it perfect, having clearence in all gears. I compromised mine by having the mechanism foul slightly in 1st (never used except at start) to allow more movement selecting other gears. Just gota test a flat out start to make sure it doesn't pop out.

edit: takes a while because the threaded bar is RH thread in both sockets so you have to keep popping them off - its the only part of the satchshift that annoyed me! (and bulkhead hole cutting! but that was my fault :) )
