Caliper/hub/drive Shaft Identification

Recommended Posts

ASBGTi

Evening all,

Is there any way of identifying what calipers/hubs and driveshafts I have on my 205? It started life as a 1.6 and has been converted to a 2ltr mi16. I am currently overhauling the brakes and suspension and am in the process collecting the bits for a gti6 brake setup. Before I start buying hubs and drive shafts I want to check what I currently have.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

At a glance if you have 1.9 hubs you'll have a different, larger hub nut, usually with a locking clip rather than the staked hubnut found on base & 1.6 models.

Another way to identify 1.9 GTI hubs is they have two cut outs opposite each other in the drive flange.

Ok thanks,

I'll get a couple of pictures posted up later, that should put it to bed.

Cheers

Right, correct me if in wrong but I'm fairly sure these are 1.9 calipers which I understand fit on either 1.6 or 1.9 hubs.

So what hubs do I have.....

Cheers

Have a look at the article on hubs and brakes on the main website, dimensions of the discs are in it.

That is a 1.9 caliper.

has the castellated nut and r-clip that only the 1.9 used, thread is m24 with a 35mm nut.

Right,

Based on the brake article I have 1.9 brake discs. So, can I now just bolt on my gti6 brake discs and calipers?

Also I am after some braided hoses, will I need 205 hoses or 306 hoses?

Cheers
