Servo Push Rod Adjustment

Recommended Posts

futura

I have taken off my master cylinder for the second time and don't seem to manage to get rid of the play in the servo push rod, which looks different from the one I have seen in manuals as there is no visible bolt before the tip.

Referring to the pics I have uploaded, can someone confirm that this type of rod can be adjusted, and if so how, because it just keeps turning without anything happening.

Have you dismantled your servo if so its probably useless now? Doesn't look adjustable that, the end of the rod usually unscrews out for adjustment.

it wont be useless as long as the diaphragm isn't damaged, however that does indeed look like it is not adjustable.

I thought they were sealed for life? Also isn't there adjustment in the master cylinder pushrod too?

probably

no adjustment in the mc, hence some servo's have adjustment in them, or the linkage to the servo.

These were photos from a thread where someone did a post-mortem check if his servo :D

Thanks for the answers anyway. It looks like the rod is not adjustable indeed. I took a good glance at the whole brake system from the interior of the car. I am going to drill a hole on the bracket where the brake lights switch is installed, in order to fit an adjustable stop for the brake pedal, like that I'll get rid of travel excess :)

Here is a pic illustrating how I plan to do it.

Just behind the brake lights switch (indicated with a red arrow), I am going to drill a hole.

In that hole I will doble bolt a rod (the same way as the switch) which will permit pedal travel adjustment.
