Car Going Off Expected Track During Left Turns

Got a bit of a strange problem with my pug that is doing my head in!

 

Basically when I make a very slight left the car goes where I would expect it to for a bit and then all of a sudden pitches in and makes a much tighter turn with no extra movement of the steering wheel (I.e. I don't move it and the car doesn't try and move the wheel in my hand).

 

It only happens on gentle corners and doesn't occur when I'm pushing on a bit.

 

Right turns are not an issue at all

 

Spec as follows:

 

New spax springs and dampers at front (I know these are naff, but I don't think they're the cause of this problem!)

New gaz dampers rear

New polybushes on wishbones and anti roll bar

New quaife quick rack

New track rod ends

New droplinks

New solid rear beam mounts (BBM)

New strut bearings (had 2 new sets because this was my first thought!)

New BBM strut rubbers

Standard front arb

1.9 hubs (pinch bolt torqued correctly)

Standard wishbones

205 beam (standard arb and torsion bars)- I've not rebuilt this, but it moves freely with no creaking and there's no funny camber

 

Tracking has been done and is fine.

 

Any ideas what i should be looking at guys?

 

I'm thinking it must be rear beam or oval hubs, but the beam seems fine in every other way and the hubs were okay before I took them off (have had this problem ever since its been back on the road, so they've not ovalled in last 300 miles).

You're absolutely sure the hubs aren't ovalled/bellmouthed? The symptoms do sound exactly like an ovalled hub to me...

The other thing that jumps out, Poly bushes- never been good for me on a 205, are they the orange ones? If so they are too soft and can lead to this vagueness. For whatever reason 205's are very very sensitive to these bushes.

Agree with both of the above.

 

Whip the bbjs out of the hubs and try a 16mm pin or a drill bit shank in the holes. Sometimes they can appear fine but be absolutely fubar'd

Check how much thread you have sticking out of each TRE.

 

They need to be pretty much equal so the rack is central, If a tyre fitting garage has done it then there's a good chance it isn't central. Can have a big affect and I had a similar problem

Looks like it's the drivers side hub afterall

The nearside one looks fine to me, but off side looks like it has started wearing near the gap...guess it's time to put up a wanted ad!
