Driving Light Surrounds

Recommended Posts

Luke

What colour are the driving light surround supposed to be?

I managed to get hold of a set of new very old stock SIEM units. They are the right size, have a slightly different lens pattern to the originals and have chrome surround. Am I right in thinking the original units have a black surround?

Cheers

Luke

I would get them plated before you paint them. Might help stop the rust a bit?

I was going to use hammerite rust beater then zinc primer before spraying black to hopefully keep the rust at bay.

I'd do powdercoat :)

Or normal car paints and a petrol resistant laquer.

I already have my car paints so may just get some petrol resistant lacquer to finish them off.

I sandblasted mine then had them plated and powdercoated.

Definitely get them blasted and powdercoated. Normal spray paint or Hammerite won't last much time at all on a chrome finish if at all and even without the chrome finish underneath normal paint still won't last too long.

Anyone know somewhere near Bath I can get them sand blasted and powder coated?
