on my phase 1 its the old style exhaust

 

could i update it to the later style exhausts with the olive fittings or is it specific to what model or phase it is?

yes you can fit it fine, there's no difference to the mounting.

 

when built certainly it was an age thing as to which was fitted, post 1990 would be a two piece system, unless it had a cat.
