205 Mi16 Using Dizzy Adapter

Recommended Posts

Terry1600

i have the option of buying an mi16 1.9 and it comes with a dizzy adapter to use the 8v system, my question is does this engine run pretty good using the 8v system or is it a complete waste of time?

cheers.

Terry

You could do it that way, but it's not how a professional would do it.

And use aftermarket management, Most of the OE stuff is long worn out

I have the dizzy adaptor with weber 45s on my MI and it hasn't caused any problems. Perhaps after-market management would be better / produce more power but at the moment for road use I don't see any reason to change, especially as I don't have the cash!!

The 8v dizzy works acceptably if you're running carbs, but whilst it works to a point, Mi16's really don't shine when you run them on the complete 8v Jetronic management. It's so much nicer running on the proper Mi16 Motronic management that it's a no brainer in my eyes.

As Miles says though, a lot of the Mi16 looms and AFMs are getting pretty tired now.
