Cooling Fan On Constantly?

Recommended Posts

markw

Right then, I started the car today for the first time

In a week, and as soon as I switched the ignition

On the fan started before I had cranked then engine

Over

The emerald K6 runs the fan normally. When I eventually

Got the car running it ran like a bag of s*ite, as soon as I gave it any

Amount of throttle it cut out, (jenvey 45s by the way) it's Not normal

For the fan to run like this from cold as it normally switches on

About 90 degrees.

Any ideas what I can do to try and " reset" the std water temp switch

Really need to sort as I have a sprint at curborough tomorrow

Thanks guys

Mark

Plug laptop in see what the various sensors are reading. Sounds like there is a problem with the water temp sensor as you say. Check that it's properly plugged in as otherwise the Emerald will default to some set value.

Buy another from ebay - some usb drivers just don't like them.

Or find a laptop with a serial out.

Interested why you connected the fan to be controlled by the Emerald. I toyed with the idea but left it standard.

My experience is, buy the adaptor from Emerald, it will work 1st time. The generic adaptors don't work.
