The pipe from the temp sensor to the heater matrix has got a big hole in it, coolant everywhere. Peugeot don't do them anymore according to my local dealer. So my obvious question, where can I get some replacements?

Same as any TU engined 205, find a breaker online or at a scrap yard.

Take the hose as an sample and go tour round your local car parts shops .. if they don't have specific hose then ask them to find something interchangeable from other car brand/make/model that'll match up hose bend length and diameter wise (if its longer just chop some off ..) .. if theres an good shop which stocks various parts , and if they're keen to "dig around" , im sure that they'll find something for you based on the sample hose .

Just go to any hydraulics place and get a joiner and two jubilee clips simples

that's what I have done, looks a bit heath robinson but effective, now got to change the thermostat as I believe that it has caused the problem.
