Eddie, nice!!

Sorry to throw this ot, but what seats should 1990 ph1.5 have. stripes or checks? or either. the one i'm looking at has orange indicators, ph2 dash, ph1 expansion tank, ph2 seats would this be a genuine ph1.5?

if its phase 1.5, then phase 1.5 seats...

i'm assuming it's a ph1.5 due to the mishmash. would the above combination be seen on a 1990 g plate?

The dates for the various changes are here: http://www.205gtidrivers.com/info/history.html

The seats changed a year before the other things we think of as phase 2 so phase 2 seats with orange indicators and a grey dash can be factory correct!

Its totally as it should be assuming the dash and plastics are the later style (e.g. rotary heater controls) but grey not black. Around 1989 all the cars moved to the red/black check type seat cloth, either all cloth for 1.6 or half leather for 1.9. At this time there was a bit of a mismatch as the half leather was black whereas the dash/bumpers/bodykit was still dark grey. Theres an argument for a "Ph 1.75" really!

Gents, I've split this into its own topic so as not to clutter Eddies.

cross over car, so as with most car manufacturers you get parts and trims etc that you find on both old and new. I have the same with my Punto runabout. It shares various parts with the Grande which it shouldn't

It's not really a cross over car because the phases don't really exist, they're just terms we made up on this forum. The Australian forum has a completely different system (series 1, 2 and 3 IIRC.)

Peugeot would say they had a programme of constant improvement, look at the history page I linked to earlier, there is a lot missing from that list and it is also UK centric, things like side repeaters came much later in other markets if at all.

I had a H plate 1.6, it had phase 1.5 lights, trim and dash but the later style cloth seats ( black not the grey hard wearing style )

Yep that's exactly what I'd call a ph 1.75

I'm pretty good at spotting the correct trim and ph, it's just that I have another g plate and it's identical except the older seats (which I prefer), but I think that's an 89' g plate. This one is a 90' g plate.i guess it also depends how long before the car was registered after being built etc.

To confirm, the one I'm looking at has the newer seats, grey newer dash, but orange indicators and clusters. Exterior trim is incorrect though, where it's the darker/black trim and bumpers, but I'm ok with this and the seller has advised it was replaced fully during a respray.

I don't believe there is a phase 1.75. I've seen F & Gs with alternate/varying specs. I reckon Peugeot just threw in whatever was available from stock.

Sorry but I don't agree. There are various discrete changes that happen in a set order.

If a ph 1.5 has a be1 lift reverse box and grey tweed or grey panel half leathers, what is a later car with a be3 box and red/black check, but still orange indicators?

The link I posted earlier shows exactly when the changes happened, the reason you see inconsistencies with registration plates is because cars aren't registered immediately after they leave the production line and the delay can vary hugely.
