Wing Differences?

Hey there all,

 

I'm looking at another 205 GTi local to me that needs extensive work on the front end this includes the front wings as they are rotten, my question is - What's the differences between the standard front wings and the GTi ones aside from the holes for the trim clips?

 

Could the standard wing be fashioned to allow the arch trim to sit straight on it? I only ask because there are hardly any GTi wings kicking around now but quite a few standard ones.

You can cut the lip off a base model wing and drill the kit mounting holes in it easily enough.

Just watch out for side repeater location as they did move.

Do you only want original peugeot wings? Pattern parts are readily available

I'm happy with pattern ones really. The ones currently on the car are rotten to the point where the bit that sits under the indicator cutout that would be hidden by the bumper has rotten away.

They are, but in my experience they are a very poor fit, especially the gap between door and wing.

I got my genuine wings for my GTI from Ibiza, that's how hard it is to find them in the dealer network.

 

All Gti wings are NLA now, phase 1 nearside was available about 6 months ago.

 

Base model ones are easily found even the NLA pair.

 

Found 4 base model ones last week, 80 quid for that package of 4.
