Ls2 Coils.

Recommended Posts

Cal_Jones

Hey,

Im trying to replace 2 coils that have gone on my mi16 engine, i have found out that all 4 are LS2 coils and i was wondering where i could source them from? iv found some on ebay for £70 a piece from australia but id prefer them closer to home to save time and postage :/.

Any help and knowledge would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Cal

Try a Vauxhall dealer.

probably far easier to rewire to a bosch wasted spark coil and Z16XE plug leads, far simpler and more readily available in the EU.

From experience - and you did say 2 needed replacing - DO NOT use pattern LS2 coils.

I had 2 fail as well. You really want to use (and pay the extra cash for) original ones.

As Mei said, perhaps find someone in the UK who looks after Vauxhall Monaros and get proper LS2 coils (x4 if necessary).

My LS1 coils, original items, worked perfectly for 1000s of miles. My LS2 pattern coils failed quickly as stated; luckily I had spares.

Also as Mei said, whilst there MAY be an advantage of the LS2s, the simplicity and low cost of a Ford or Peugeot wasted spark single coil pack has a lot going for it.

EDIT:

I've also noted the length of your HT leads. Why not have nice short ones, directly down from the coil to the spark plug? This is all part of the 'each little thing adds up' approach, which is one reason I gather you've chosen the more complex LS2 coil route?

They're actually Yukon coils, D585's, basic LS2 coils are different.

Try Monkfish Performance. Used them when I had my Monaro and they are top guys.
