Re-Bonding Rear Screen... Is It A Diy Job?

Hi all,

 

Ive noticed that the bonding on my rear screen is no longer doing its job, to the point where the entire left hand edge of the glass has come away from the tailgate; which probably explains why there was so much water in the car

 

My question is, can i take it out and re-bond it myself? Anyone done one? what did you use?

 

Failing that is anyone local to me a windscreen fitter who fancies doing it?!

If you can get it out without breaking it just cut all the old stuff off and use tigerseal to reseal it

I'd find a local independent (one man band) guy and bung him £20/30.

 

A mate works for autoglass - he's got lots of friends!

If the bonding is coming away partially you could easily get a tube of windscreen sealant from a motorfactor for a tenner and do it yourself.

 

Prep is the key, and some nice strong marking tape to secure the glass.

 

the rear screen is bonded in with the trim piece in place, it appears this locates it in the aperture.
