Anyone Got A Pic Of Siem Driving Lamp Shell Brackets?

Recommended Posts

ATK

Anyone got a pic of Siem driving lamp brackets? I mean the brackets that are on the bottom of the plastic backing shell (not the valance brackets which Tom reproduces).

Reason I ask is that the used set of Siem lights I got recently came with the brackets on the bottom of the plastic shell, but they seem MASSIVE compared to those that came with my Denji lamps. To the point where I used the Denji brackets as the Siem brackets seemed too big to be able to get the lamp in and lined up!

Perhaps I'm missing something, but it would be useful to see a pic to see if the brackets that came with the used set of Siems are actually correct!

Cheers all

Perfect, thanks Daviewonder. This is driving me nuts!

Even though the plastic backings/housing on my used SIEMS are stamped Siem etc, they have a little bracket at the bottom like the Denjis (like two bits of plastic with a horizontal bolt through them and then a little metal bracket) rather than a single vertical bolt moulded into the lamp like genuine Siems.

Probably not 205 ones. I think there's some on eBay at the moment that sound like yours.

I've removed the old Siem lights off mine this weekend, I had to cut through the bolt stems but have the shells and plastic base mounts. I'll take a pic.

If they were sold as 205 Lamp units they may well be aftermarket for base model bumpers, like a dealer fit kit, as you've found they are quite different in shape to the Sport bumper types.

Yeah, seems that way. To be honest the Denji's I had on there were similar and don't sit properly vertical, and angle down towards the floor a bit too.

Looks like new genuine SIEMS are the way for me to go.

Not sure if these help, do you think your glass/seals might transfer into these cases? You'd need new bolts of course!

My solution to the 205 GTI fog lamp problem was to remove the glass, bezel , rubber seal and wiring then modify the plastic body to take a Cibie Airport 25 ( iirc ) cover .They are non functioning dummies but look great and cost about £15 .

No worries mate, how much do new Siem ones go for then?

I've just fitted Denji's, they look the part but they were a bit fiddly to get in and lined up nicely.

Not sure on price of new Siem's, I've got someone trying to source me a pair now. Pricy I think though.

I had Denji's, did me well and certainly looked the part but I wanted to sort some genuine Siems to finish my car off.

hang fire on new ones, stew baker is looking into reproduction reflectors and there hopefully will be a batch of metal surrounds so all youll need is the donor backings and glass.

got a stock of those in waiting ;)

It's the donor backings and glass which are not good enough on my SIEMS (backings are completely wrong and one glass is yellowy), metal surround and refectors are ok.

So looks like I'm gonna need a new set!
