Mi 16 Loom Question. Again

Recommended Posts

matt g

Hi all sorry to ask another mi16 wiring question. I have trawled through previous threads with no joy so here goes.

I have a 405 converted loom ( came with the engine I bought). In the car I have a thin yellow wire hanging next to the two brown multi plugs Where does the yellow wire go???

Thanks in advance all

What you need to find out is the number of said wire.......but if you mean a yellow wire that comes from behind the dash binnacle area then its most likely the choke light wire and as such is unused on gti models. If it is wire 75 or 75a then it is definitely the choke light and should be left unconnected.

Hi Sam, thanks for the reply. The wire comes from the 405 loom and unfortunately has no number on it!!

I was hoping it was a wire that had fallen out of one of the brown plugs but it does not appear I'm that lucky.

The smaller of the two brown plugs should have two wires going into one pin - a thick red, and a thin yellow.

Ah my mistake, thuoght you meant it was on the 205 side.

Since you can't find what number the wire is, i'd just use a multimeter and probe through the loom until you find exactly where the wire goes, starting with the ecu plug then through everything else if you don't find it. When i converted my 205 to mi16 using a BX loom i had to spend a few hours doing this since all the wires are green and about 20 feet long on that bastard, was worth the time though since i learned a whole lot about how the loom works etc. which aided future problem solving.
