306 Front Brake Conversion

Recommended Posts

CHRISWB

So I checked the front brakes and had a sized up calliper so I found some front brakes from a 306 1.4 on a x reg but I can't seem to get them to work are these the same as doing the gti6 conversion or are they different too?

My 205 is a 1.6 cti on a E reg.

Any help on this would be great.

So does that mean that I can put the brakes off the front of my 1.9 h plate on the 1.6 cti E plate, then put the 306 1.4 x plate ones on the front of the 1.9?

Hope I am right in what am saying..

What do you mean by you can't get the 306 brakes to work? I have used the calipers off a 306 on my 1.6 GTi before and they worked perfectly using the original 205 1.6 discs as they were both 247mm. I will be using them again as my 205 calipers are starting to seize and the 306 calipers I have are the same as 106 GTi ones so can get performance pads for them.

Fairly sure your 306 brakes should fit as long as they came off a car with 247mm discs.

The 306 discs an calliper a I have are from a 306 with ABS and the discs are bigger then the 1.6 205 ones but the calipers won't fit over the disc to mount them as they want to cockel and go on a angel.

The 306 discs are around 270 mm but the caliper carriers won't bolt up!
