Beam End And Tyre Clearance

Recommended Posts

roccorich

Just got the car up on the 4 poster to give everything a once over since the beam change and noticed the gap between the tyre wall and the end of the beam is only 2mm.

Ive got 195/50 15R tyres on speedlines.

Is this normal?

Cheers

It's often pretty close, but that seems excessively so - is the ARB end plate fitted home properly (i.e near enough flush to the arm)?

Theres about 2 to 3mm between the plate and the arm.

The bolt head is what I could feel being very close to the tyre.

Is it just a case of tapping the plate in?

there shouldn't be any bolt heads there, just a plastic bung in the end of the ARB plate which doesn't stick out much.

Its all making sense now then.

just read the rebuild guide.

so someones wound a bolt in thinking they were doing right and actually pulled the bar out.

Just made a puller and pressed it home again.

Got any bungs you wanna post me for some beer tokens?

Cheers guys

Cheers.

Just remembered I've still got the old beam in my garden....

Heres how it was before.

Yeah, that bolt shouldn't be there.

Agreed they aren't generally expensive but you usually have to buy double or more the number you need.
