Bbm Solid Beam Mounts - Much More Noisey?

Recommended Posts

nick205

Considering fitting a set of the BBM solid alloy/acetyl rear beam mounts when installing a new rear beam.

Is the increase in vibration and road noise very noticeable over the OEM mountings?

It was in mine, but, the car was totally stripped out so i heard EVERYTHING :P

Be interested to see what response you get, im currently re-trimming mine to a road car and had considered if the mounts would be noisy...

I put the bbm mounts in my pug when I was using it as my daily driver and it was bit more noise but not to much for how much better the car felt in the corners

it got rid of the lift of over steer and to be honest I was expecting a lot more noise and vibrations but was happy with how they are and 3 years later and bout 10 track days later and 10000 road km later there still the same as day one :)

Certainly will!

I'm planning a set of BBM engine mounts next to further tighten the whole thing.

I'm pretty sure you will feel a big difference in noise and vibration if you fit the whole set of those. I have them on a stripped car and it is extremely noticable.

I think some people stick with a standard bottom mount and change the rest

180 mile round trip to SSP engineering in Devon today to have my rear beam overhauled. Full strip, new bearings, new bearing shafts, clean and refit for £350, including fitting the BBM solid mountings. Coffee, good conversation and back in time to pick the kids up from school.

BLOODY WOW! the car is possessed, it feels so taught and alert it's untrue. The solid mount firing makes little or no difference to cabin noise, but really locks the rear end down.

So, recommendations for BBM and SSP.

on to engine mounts and gear linkages next.
