Probably because the GTI never had heated mirrors, so says not compatible. They will fit but of course need wiring in.

That was pretty much my logic, I have ordered one.

As GLP points out, the GTI I don't think ever came with these, But all 205 mirrors of that style will fit all 205s (there are earlier types with a different attachment fixing)

I can only see a heated OS mirror. None of the N/S ones are coming up as heated.

Did the models that came with heated mirrors only have it on the drivers side? If so, you'd have to source a LHD drivers mirror to get a matching pair.

Gentrys came with heated mirrors both sides. But they are not that common hence folk charge strong money for them. For £18 I'll be fitting just the one heated on my car, after all its the drivers side which is probably used more anyway.

Well, searching for a 205 1.8 diesel (STDT had them too AFAIK) on ECP & CP4L brings up the part number on that Ebay page (489735161) quoted above for the O/S mirror. The matching N/S part number is 489735001 on ECP website. And here it is on Ebay. I might give ECP a call tomorrow and find out.

I was tempted. But I don't need new mirrors, and if I was going to go heated I'd just try and source the heated glass and wire them in. Besides, a future project is to try and convert the mirrors to full electric adjustment anyway.

 

Having said that, I can see these being worth hoarding just for future resale value

Just spoke to the carparts4less dept that handles eBay sales - their number is 0203 474 0100 and the chap said that item number 301122630570 has been wrongly listed, they're not heated.

 

So, did anyone actually get a heated one through?

The chap on the phone said he'll email a UPS return ticket (which I have in my inbox) and I've just to drop it at a pick up point or let them pick it up from my address and await a refund. No big shakes, was worth a shot.

Mine arrived and was not heated, no surprise reading this thread.

 

So I opened a case with the seller asking for a £10 partial refund, which they agreed to. So it is still a bargain as it has only cost me £8 delivered to get a new mirror.

 

I will try and convert it to heated in time.
