hi there, im no technical wiz with this type of thing but iv have quiet a few problems with my twin choke carb before so I might be able to help you out as iv had to strip my carb many a time. r u able to send a pic of ur carb indicating where the leaks are coming from as I cant seem to think of where your talking about and ill try my best to think of the problem. also with the leaking are there any effects on the running of the car?

hi again, looking at where the leak would be the only thing I can think of is that the spindle that the butterfly is screwed onto is slightly worn, iv never had this problem personally but that's what it seems to look like.. how much does it leak roughly and if u wipe it clean how long does it take to reappear?

If I thrash it and stop it drips every 3 seconds for a few mins if I let it stop and idle for a bit its fine

right ok iv been having a think and it might be possible that if the spindles that are attached to the 2 butterflys are slightly worn then as you put your foot down there is more fuel being injected into the carb, but obviously as your putting your foot down the spindle is also moving possibly causing an opening for the fuel to leak out of, but if u leave the car to idle the the butterfly flap isn't moving and less fuel is passing through the carb. if not that then maybe its because when you "thrash it" your pumping more fuel into the carb float chamber and when you turn your car off theres too much fuel left in the float chamber causing it to over fill and leak out of your injectors which then drips onto the butterfly spindle, but when you leave the car to idle after driving it the float chamber has a chance to return back to the normal level meaning the injectors wont leak.

also how often do you drive it, because if its not an every day car and you've got the time it might be worth taking the carb off the car and inspecting it more closely, just be careful with the gaskets as they can be pretty stuck on and its frustrating when they rip ;)

if not it might be worth taking it to a decent mechanic who knows abit about carbs.

please tell me if you think talking rubbish or rambling on but as iv not had this problem before its new to me too :)

Does the fuel leak out when the car is sitting there engine off and ignition on? if so check your float levels as this is a pretty common problem with carbs with fuel leaking from the butterfly shaft.

I have adjusted to float level slightly and it hasn't leaked yet but I was leaking when the car was sat still but only for a few minutes not enough for it to have completely empty itself
