No Front Brakes 1.6

Recommended Posts

Hey Peeps.

I have been banging my head against this issues for several weeks now and i am getting nowhere fast. So its time to ask the experts ;)

I am currently in the process of restoring a 205 Gti 1.6 that has been sat in a garage for 14 years. As you would expect all the brakes were a bit sticky.

So we have Done the following:

New discs/Pads on the front.

New rubber hoses on the front

Replaced the front calipers with known good ones.

New Brake cylinders on the rear

New Master cylinder.

However each step of the way we have had no front brakes. Everything has been bleed repeatedly without issue and the pedal does not pump up.

But the pedal travel does feel longer than it should be. and the rear brakes work fine without any problems.

Could the compensator cause this? as far as i am aware it just restricts flow to the rear, so the fronts should work if the compensator is faulty or not.

I dont know what else could be causing this, any one have any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Have you replaced the brake pipes? and if so have you routed them as original orientation?

The fact that it has been sitting for a long time will not help. They can and do give trouble when left idle.

If you had a decent one to hand i would change it.
