Levin 20V Throttle Bodies Onto 205?

Recommended Posts

Ian205

well guys a mate of mine is breaking his 1998 toyota levin 20v , which come from factory with throttle bodies, he said i can take them and see if i could modify them to fit 205, ill be getting throttle bodies, injectors and inlet manifold.

realistically could these be made fit by making up a new inlet or by using a 205 flange instead of corolla flange?

any helpful advice welcome, i know ill have to get a custom loom made up but in a mechanical sense is it viable?

i can get these low milage t/b for free , i know it may seem ludecris but fr free i thought it might be worth a chance?

thanks

i imagined they would have been disguised as (over here in Ireland there are vast amounts of 20v levins for breaking) and how cheap they go for , i would have thought they would have been experimented with! , but wether it is a viable route to go down in terms of power gains or not is another thing

They'll gain as much power as any throttle bodies as long as the inlet manifold and trumpet length is done right.

Anything can be fitted to anything else :)

There are certainly easier bodies to fit though, personally id machine the standard flange cylindrical to either weld to, or re attach a new flange to. If youre getting them for nowt its not bad but if you have to pay for machining etc id personally start with a set of bike bodies or something thatll require less work to fit

they look a right pain, but as you said when im getting them for nothing, i work in an engineering firm so i can get any milling etc done for cost price, if even a little cheaper, as for milling the standard flange, would that not upset the injectors standard set up? as in by looking at the pictures you can see theres already a bit machines out for the spray off the injectors, and also id imagin that the measurement between ports on the 205 would be different to that of the levin, so if i were to simpley cut off the levin flange and weld on a 205 flange, the port match wouldnt be great? i was considering getting a manifold made up, but then id have to get a fuel rail made up also, so i was hoping to make do with keeping as much of the std manifold as possible, but with everything..theres no point if its not going to work out properly at the end of the day!

if i were to get an adapter manifold made to bolt up to the levin flange and onto the 205 head would that be leaving too much of a distance between injector and port or would it be ok? and in terms of linkages or cable back to my throttle peddle would something else also have to be custom made?

i do apoligise for all the questions and all the reading you have to do but this is my first time dealing with throttle bodies, and would like to research as much as i can before delving into the unknown!

the easiest solution, i know is to get a full kit that'l just all bolt together but seeing as im getting these for nothing id like to see if they are a viable option

cheers

There was a guy in nz trying it, but it became to hard basket as a custom manifold etc would need to be cast or a horrible adaptor plate. He went down the path of bike carbs which saved him alot of headache
