Hi

Have a search and you'll find loads on this, But I doubt it has one now, Like most Pug engine's they fall off or rust away

I searched it up but engine number not the most friendly search term on a car forum...! :P

So what is the solution for engine swaps?

Given the mot tester wont find ut, nothing to worry about.

Not as if the taxation class has changed, as long as it is correctly insured is all that matters.

P.s, for easier searching see my sig.

So I don't need to register it, just make sure it's insured properly? Won't it suffer getting emission tests based on being a 1.6?

Cheers!

You still need to register the change with the DVLA to be 100% legal. If you can't find an engine number then leave it blank (or make one up, it doesn't really matter). I wouldn't want to leave it as 1.6 as that gets you in a lot of trouble if you ever have to make an insurance claim.

Not if its insured as an Mi.

1st hand experience there, two claims on my zx 16v running a gti6

Emissions are the same unless its a cat car, 1.6 never had a cat.

You could quite easy in theory use the base 1.6 block on a Mi conversion and keep the original engine number, the thing is just upgrade the the capacity to 1905.

You will find with 99% of the XU10 blocks the engine number has long gone, only on some TU and the V6 engine's did the engine number on the belt cover
