Brand New Bumpers

Hi just wandering if anyone has bought a brand new bumper as there is a company selling them on ebay fairly cheap.

I needed a rear bumper and bought a cheapo one. The graining texture was not like the original, overall stifness not quite the same and the fibreglass used was a bit more brittle.

The holes for the red trim clips were nowhere near as neat as an original. The top lip was smaller so left a bigger gap under the rear quarter and didn't fit quite right with the rear arch trim overlapping.

It looked fine from a distance and did the job of a replacement bumper, but I managed to source an old original one which cleaned and plasticared up well.

If you just need a replacement and aren't too fussed, then go for it. If you want a neater, better fitting bumper, try to source an original.

No probs, hope the old ones clean up ok.

Wash the trims with a detergent, apply some plasticare (grey or black) and keep nice with Auto Finess revive.

I bought a cheap rear bumper and regretted it straight away. Although from a distance it looked ok up close it was awful. The colour and texture were spot on but the gaps were ridiculous particularly the gap beneath the tailgate. You could see the cables for the rear lights it was that bad.

 

If you were any good at body work i'm sure it could've been strengthened using fibreglass supports. I gave up and bought a decent second hand one from on here.
