What Controls Self-Cancelling Of Indicators?

Recommended Posts

Recently swapped steering wheels, to fit one in better condition, but self-cancelling of indicators has ceased - can anyone point me to whatever controls this feature, so I can check & fix, plse?

There should be a plastic tag on the back of the steering wheel that is held on with a circlip, this pushes a lever on the back of the indicator stalk. You should be able to swap it over from the old steering wheel, take the new one off and compare them, the difference should be obvious.

Its a tab that's moulded onto the back of the steering wheel that sweeps a lever that sticks out in its path when you turn the indicators on. If its missing on the wheel you could possibly use a small screw. It could also just be out of line.

It's not moulded, it's a separate part held on with a circlip.

Just taken pic of back of old wheel but I'm not sure how to attach it to a posting - will do so, if anyone can guide me! Ta.

You may have pulled the steering column up too far, when pulling the old wheel off.

This I found inadvertently stops the indicators working and renders the steering lock useless.
