Is the rear beam disc brakes or drum? If it's disc brakes, how old does the beam look in comparison to the cars age?

Given that you've said fabric seats and it's got 14 inch pepper pots it's more than likely started out life as a 1.6, could possibly have had an engine transplant at some point, I guess any history with the car would reveal more.

What colour are the fuel injectors? Yellow = 1.9.

looking at your VIN it states DF2 in it, which says DFZ, not DKZ to me so a 105 hp engine

Servicebox confirms it, however also with a manual box.

ENGINE INJECTION XU9J1/A TRANSMISSION BVM5

RP number of 4420, December 15, 1988.

What colour are the fuel injectors? Yellow = 1.9.

specifically, yes a 1.9 has yellow injectors, however they can be swapped easily...

Edit, I noticed you're in Australia, so the spec does ring true for an early Aus spec car, afaik it should have a lambda and a cat run by Jetronic LU2, 14" wheels, 1.6 type driveshafts, though which hubs they ran I'm unsure, base model or 1.6 type, Bendix vented brakes.

I'm sure one of your local guys can clarify that further, they're quite different to an UK or most european GTi's.
