Cti And Gti Suspension Differences?

Recommended Posts

roccorich

Ive just swapped my rear beam on my CTi for one from a GTi and it looks lower at the back.

Does anyone know if they had the same rear beams and the same ride height?

Cheers

The GTI beams are lower and have thicker torsion bars and ARB.

So to make the front match do I need GTi springs or struts and springs?

I'm assuming the CTi struts are pretty stiff anyway given the extra weight.

I think it'll be fine with just the GTI springs, however I've only ever put everything from a GTI on a CTI in one go, springs, struts, subframe, wishbones etc so I can't speak from experience about the springs on their own.

You should be fine with just springs, though it depends if your GTI beam has been lowered

I'll measure the gaps between the tyre and the arch and see.

Cheers guys

If you fit a GTi subframe to a CTi, do you have to reposition the flexible brake pipe mounts within each front wheel arch? Having had a look, it seems like the drop links may foul this mounting on a CTI.

Yes you do, the bracket needs to be cut off and re-welded in the GTI location.

Hmmm - Thanks guys. I think I'll fit the drop links and do a slow steering test to see if they foul. Mods are never easy are they haha!

I never moved anything on my CTI.
