Steering Racks And Rollbars

should my H plate 1,6gti have a square drive steering rack? also do all 205gti have a 17mm rollbar?

If it's non-PAS then it'll probably be a square drive rack - worth checking though because it might well have been swapped.

 

All 205 GTi's have a 17mm front ARB. 309 GTi front ARB's are 21mm and a straight swap if you use the matching 309 clamps and bushes. Opinions vary on how worthwhile it is - I'm not personally a huge fan as it tends to reduce traction on the inside wheel, but others have fitted them and found them to be beneficial.

 

I would strongly suggest a matching thicker rear ARB if you're uprating the front though, as it'll get quite understeery otherwise.
