Recommended Posts

I have a mi 16 engine out of 89 405 run fine when taken out. Been stored for a few years in the garage and my thoughts are to have it rebuilt by myself or pay some one to do it? what are the cost anyone know????????????

Miles

How long is a piece of string, A few parts are not available anymore like liners, so you can use 8v one or custom 16v design ones which are £450.00 ish a set, Rest is dead easy but the heads can cost allot if guides need doing so anything from £350.00 to well over a bag of sand

cheers miles i thought this might be the case, but had to ask. Might try just running it as it is as it was a good runner with no smoke or use of water.

I would definately just do the clutch (if unknown mileage on it) and cambelt + waterpump and try it out before throwing cash at stuff that might not be necessary.

I would do the clutch, cambelt, and do a 200 mile run in with out any hard driving. gives the engine a chance to come back to life.

I ran an engine that had been stood for 10 years without changing anything. Ran spot on until I surged it and it spun a shell some months later.

Just do the cambelt and put it to work.
