206Gti/306Gti?

Hey peeps, looking to changed the s16 engine out of my 205, but many of my mates seem to think i should go mad and go "Jap" which id rather stay away from and keep the car french, so my Question is is there much of a diffrence from the 206 180hp engine and the 306 S16 engine?

And has anyone here done a 180 conversion??

not really the right subforum for the question as the 206 uses an EW engine not the XU.

have a look at the threads in there.

this is one project thread too.

205 Gti 180 Track Car

its a good engine, a good chunk lighter than the XU iron block engine, a stiffer bottom end due to its design, they seem to produce more torque out of the box than the xu too.

straight out of the box the 180 produces more power, but the 138 is probably the one to start with if you aim to modify it, as they're far more abundant and cheaper, a few mods and they liven up and match the 180 engine!
