Any one watching?

Thoroughly enjoying it.

Forgot it was on cheers for the reminder, just in time for my fave car mk1 escort :)

The idea that they were going to do anything other than a 100% standard restoration is laughable. It's the sort of thing TV producers insist upon making up to give it some sort of storyline. Same with the rust "nightmare", that looked like the least rusty mk1 escort I've ever seen.

Have to agree on the rot front. They did a good job though and those 8v 4bangers on 45's! Oh my.

Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable to watch, I just wish they'd give more control over content to car people and less to tv producers who just want to make up contrived nonsense.

A bit like Wheeler dealers but without that knob Mike Brewer.

Obviously made for the 'arm chair' enthusiast as more about the storey and less about technically what they were doing.

As from it all you'd take away is that the Mexico had a rack and pinion steering and that's all that set it apart from others cars.

My score: 5/10. Bit light on interesting content.

Que next week and the "4 million different land rover uses and bespoke bodies".

Great series and loved the final auction episode.

However, just spotted that the Series 1 Land Rover that was rebuilt on For the Love of Cars and supposedly sold at auction, is for sale on Kahn's website...

I wouldn't be surprised if they all went to trade buyers tbh.

I loved the show, bit disappointed if it turns out that the auction was a ringer though :P

If that Kahn geezer has now got it for sale, surely Ant would have known?

Enjoyed it but they didnt mention auction fees anywhere plus what they actually spent on the resto. That would have been interesting to know.

I enjoyed it. For the history lesson of each vehicle if nothing else.

It was a a good little series I thought, it didn't really get into the resto as much as I would have liked but it was interesting in different ways.

Absolutely love the Mexico, I haven't seen the last episode but I already know I can't afford it, not even close!

Agreed, it's a shame they didn't do a spin off series on the restorations, that would've been good.

After watching Channel 5's Classic Car Rescue, you realise how good 'For the Love of Cars' was!

Classic Car Rescue is utter turd in my opinion, hate that English guy who's permanently angry, its like its trying too hard to be entertaining.

Like most have said, that Anthony looks to have some serious skills, so i'd love to see more of that in the split, would have been interesting to see him panelling up that TC!

There's another car program replacing For the Love of Cars on C4 Sunday evening. Something about car refurbs DiY....

Anyone watch Brian Johnson (AC/DC vocals) and his car program on Quest? Whilst not about getting dirty, he covers a lot of the history behind the cars.

And yes, Classic Car Rescue is pants.

I'm still a fan of the 'is born' series.

Got the set on DVD somewhere.

Enough backround info, and technical info to keep you interested.

And no huge 'must have' knob-heads on it like most other programmes now have.

I watched the Mexico one - found it severally lacking in interest to me (not enough techincal stuff), but some of the backroudn info was interesting.

Not enough for me to watch the rest of the series though.

I thought that.

The history behind the cars are interesting but drags in places. the builds seem to go from stripped shell to almost finished. Makes it look like it was done in a couple of days!

I give the show a 4/10. not something I'd make time to watch, (unless they did a 205)

The lack of technical stuff on 'For The Love Of Cars' is the trade off they have to make to get a mainstream programme commissioned. Sure, it would be more interesting to many of us, but would turn off a lot of casual viewers. It would put it more as a niche program, meaning it might not be commissioned at all, or the production company might not have the same budget to do such thorough restorations.

For me, having only Freeview (OK, there's always the internet, but I rarely hunt stuff out, preferring just to tune on what I see on my TV guide), I welcome anything vaguely car related, so really enjoyed 'For The Love Of Cars'. It would have been nice to see more of the restoration, but I still appreciate what content there was.

I thought it was a good show, I'd have probably been less interested if it were any more technical.

I discovered the a *** is born series a few years ago on Quest. Still dip into them now & again when they get repeated.

I found those very interesting, especially the ones he did building his own plane & helicopter. Hard to believe the last one they did with the 4x4 build was 9 years ago.
