Strange Non-Starting Issue (Stdt)

Hey there everyone,

 

My STDT has always been a little weak when starting, some of you may remember some time back that the I thought my battery was at fault and was being drained by the car, well; it isn't that and moreover, the car is displaying some really strange behavior which may or may not be connected...

 

What happens is, the car will start and is juddery for maybe a second before steady idle, you can drive anywhere you want, problem free but when returning to the car - it won't start, you'll turn the key and the dash lights and glow plug come on, after the plug goes out, nothing literally nothing there, the strange part? Come back after 20 or so minutes, and it'll start! Both times recently it's done that. Worth noting is, it doesn't always do it, sometimes you could start it, drive and leave, come back and it'll start again.

 

I had a solenoid replaced that was leaking fuel on some wires in the engine bay that I thought sorted it as it didn't happen for ages after and it's just recently it's started doing it again, I took it to an electrician who reckons it could be the back of the ignition barrel not firing the car correctly since there is sometimes a delay between key turn and actual prime - almost a momentary pause if you like.

 

1) the central locking isn't priming first time, it seems to be trying to do it with multiple attempts before actually settling to lock the car, sometimes it'll try twice and do it, other times it'll be like 8 attempts this has since started to sometimes do this when I'm actually driving the car...

 

2) The radio sometimes refuses to function correctly, it changes settings and displays 'CD' on the screen even though it's a tape player! (Kenwood aftermarket tat) recently, it's started working again and lets me play the radio/tape and I'm not sure if this has a link to why my car has randomly started not firing. (to be fair, I've never had a 205 where the radio always works)

 

Somebody know the answer to this strange. strange turn of events. I love driving the car but it's getting risky taking it for a stroll.
