Solid Grey (Non Metallic) Anyone Sprayed Theirs This Colour?

Recommended Posts

evening all

My paint job albeit 'new' is shocking, got it done cheap and theres chips and crazing coming through. raging :/ I reckon i could do a better job!

metallic colours are more difficult, and i was debating going for a flat grey with super glossy finish to it originally, but i stuck to original colour of metallic grey

Anyone got any photos of a gti in a flat grey non metallic colour? got a weird thought I've seen one on here before :S

Cheers

John

Thats the one! man that looks nice! thought it would! Nicely done mate! love the yellow beam poking out! awesome car.

any idea what colour name/code it was?

(i think i would like to go a few shades darker, but would be great to have a tester sheet of this colour so i have a reference point)

Cheers

John

Sadly I have lost the code but I'll visit the paint shop shortly as I need to get some more once I get a fibreglass bonnet.

To be fare it looks even better in the flesh, it doesn't photo too well.

Its somewhat close to "that" Audi grey, but hell of a lot cheaper due not having about 4-5 different coats.......

A mate of mine sprayed a vintage 60s Lambretta that colour, it is lovely.

I've had a nose round the escort in this thread and loved the colour.

http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=166743&page=3

It's a Vauxhall colour but is currently unlaquered as I believe it's going to get dipped and sprayed again.

I quite fancy doing something similar to the 309 but would want the unlaquered finish. I'm not sure how well that would stand up long term?

bird poop, tree sap, bugs and uv would make pretty short work of it if it was paint.

and instead of washing it you'd be going over it with a rattlecan instead!

a satin grey wrap would hold up better if you were to go that route.

or bulk buy a crap load of rattle cans and do it yourself. then you always have a load spare in case you need to touch up a bad panel.

been more and more tempted to paint my XE since seeing this thread. the paint it has is so awful i cant possibly make it any worse.

either with a bulk of rattle cans or just get a small cheap compressor - i already have primers and gun etc. and do it one or 2 pannels at a time.

i have this grey in the garage, and with the satin black bumpers and white steels, could look very smart.

WP - i thought i was getting mine steel grey as i liked it more than graphite, but i got confused and sent the wrong code to the sprayer :/

That matt grey looks smart, but that requires a good painter and a lot of care
