Indicator Stalk

Hi,

My car has just failed it's MOT on the full beam not working (well, it sort of works......) and I've been told by the garage it's a new one that's required.

Is this correct?

They said that a non original one is £60 + VAT, but I want to keep the car as original as possible so I would probably just get a second hand one if this is correct.

Thanks,

Lewis

In what respect is it not working properly?

6253 41 is not marked NFP, retail at £75 plus vat.

as for originality, I doubt anyone but Valeo/Jaeger have made them, so an aftermarket replacement will only differ in the markup!

Thanks for this.

When you pull it only sometimes will it click therefore putting the full beam on or off.

If it looks identical eg. same text/symbols on, then I will probably get a new one.

Thanks,

Lewis

Surely thats fine if the full beam goes on and off correctly? I think the mechanisms inside can get a bit funky sometimes. At the moment mine only cancels the indicator signal when the cabin is cold. As soon as it warms up inside it spots canceling the indicator when you turn.

Mine did this and I figured a way round it, turn the lights momentarily to side light then at the same time turn back to headlights and pull the stalk for main beam. It's deffo not ideal and I got a 2nd hand one after a few months but it got me by and you could show the tester you can get it to work on demand
