Rev Counter Wiring- Phase 1

Recommended Posts

koti

Just finishing off my mi16 carbs conversion (dizzy and coil) and the rev counter has me stumped- hopefully one of you can put me out of my misery!

As I understand it, I need to run a wire from the coil -ve to the rev counter to get it going...question is, which wire on the instrument gauges does it need to go to?

I've searched the forums and can't find anything related to a phase 1 without the brown multiplugs, apart from that it is one of the wires on the blue plug..is that right and, if so, which one is it?

Thanks in advance!

The tacho feed is numbered 112, I'm sure you can tap into it in the engine bay on phase 1s, amongst the wiring on the passenger wing.

If you do want to attach it at the cluster the tacho has its own plug directly behind it, not one of the multiplugs along the top (unless phase 1s are different there.)

Cool that's where I'm going wrong then- I'll pull the clocks out tomorrow and check to see if there's another connection on the back of them behind the tachometer

shouldnt need to touch the clocks, or the dash at all even, as jackherer said the wire is in the engine bay.

I know that the only connectors that I put on the gauges are the multi plugs at the top, so there'll be no chance of the tachometer working at the minute!

It's about 18 months since I took the gauges out for the cars rebuild and had forgotten about any other connections on them- completely missed it when I was putting them back in
