Short Journeys Wont Start

Hiya just wondered if anyone can shed some light running a 205 mi16 but when I do short journeys it wont start for ages,

Does the starter motor turn?

I had a problem with my fuel pump similar to this.

Would start fine from cold, when you turned it off and it warm it wouldn't start for around 10 mins of cranking

No the starter doesnt engage there is not clicking , i have run new wire to the starter through a relay which seemed to help but now seems to be getting worse, it is only on short journeys.
