Deep Clean Of Daz's 405 Mi16.

GLP - the dirt can be abrasive in itself, if the clay was to pick up a little stone, shard of glass, rough cut diamond you would surely rub that into your paint afterwards.

Yes, and that would be an example of poor technique.

When claying, if you've cleaned the car adequately to begin with, you shouldn't be picking up large particles of anything from the surface. Of course you can still pick up much smaller particles from the paint (as intended) and they could damage the surface (marring) but that's why you should use plenty of lube, virtually no pressure (you're just sliding the clay over the surface rather than rubbing it in) and fold the clay often. It's a method that's been around for long enough, and is sworn by, that there's really no reason to ponder the pitfalls. Instead, just accept that it works, if you do it properly.

The one thing i've never understood with clay is why does the clay get rid of this dirt when washing doesn't? How come it doesn't come off when being washed?

Because it gets etched in to the paint

If you brush your fingertips over your bonnet and it feels rough.

It could do with claying.

Just realised I have had a doh moment.

Daz's car was finished of with Sonax Extreme Brilliant Shine Detailer.

This is really causing a stir in the detailing world.

The sheeting and beading of water is great. It's up with Gtechniq Exo in opinion.

It can be used on paintwork, plastic and glass.

Giving lower 'working' speeds of RainX. 25 mph rather than 45 mph.

The bumper has been treated with AutoFinesse Revive. Again water does not stay around for long.
