Gti6 Donor Car, What Do I Need?

Recommended Posts

Robbiedundy

Hi, I'm currently stripping my donor car for the 205 conversion, I've got the engine & engine loom out so far and not sure what else I need, for example gear linkages, other wiring etc. I want to make sure I've got everything before it gets scrapped.

Any help would be great, cheers.

depends how much storage space you have and the condition of the rest of the car.

i.e, all the brake calipers will fit.

trailing arms can be used.

hubs are worth keeping hold of though will need modifying for use on a 205.

driveshafts too long however would fit if shortened, might get £20 each for a 306 or xsara owner in need.

cat's are sought after if o.e.

you will need the lambda sensor.

you dont need any of the gear linkages though whip the gearstick and cable etc out as I've seen a few requests of late for those.

headunit if decent, if a phaser3 it'll fit in a 205 too.

good half leather seats are rare.

heater pipes not usable in a 205 but often broken by hamfisted mechanics when changing the matrix in a 306/xsara.

radiator worth keeping for 306/xsara use, or weighing in separately due to copper/alloy content.

Did you unlock the ECU before removing the engine?

Keep the top engine mount chocks too, they are a nice little touch

As said - hubs, brakes, beam will sell for £50-80 as is, interior usually sells after a bit if it's alright, a lot isn't worth keeping but it will sell if you can hang on to it. I scrapped my 6 and kept the engine and brakes for my 205, and made £1k profit just on odds and sods that were left

You might be able to use fuel pipes also if you want to.

I used the car side of the big plug on mine and soldered it on to the 205 loom, then you can drop engine in and plug and play.

Salvage all hoses, pipe clips, plastic clips, as they come in handy.

I also used the positive side of the wiring to fuse box, it has two wires and you can connect the two to the 205 shunt box/distribution box on the 205 front panel. You need to cut a spare wire off it at the lug.

Get the OBD socket too if you intend to wire it.

Rear arb. Have it shortened for the 205.

Grab the trailing arms and fit them to your beam if your able to.

Battery box makes a noce engine bay.
