Pas Loop Pipe Cooler

The one that can be seen (only just) in this photo:

Is it really needed or not?

Apart from increasing the system capacity a bit, I don't think it'll do much for the cooling of PAS fluid.

The only time I've had PAS overheat and make the steering heavier is while doing a very long autotesting training session during a warm summer day!

405 T16's had a loop behind the front bumper but it had fins as well. And they used to rot badly, leak and fail. With it removed, the PAS was just fine.

Thanks.

Nope, not needed IMO.

I've never bothered running one on my own 205 and never had issues on the road or track, and from what I remember, 309 GTI's didn't have them as standard and that's obviously the same PAS setup on a fractionally heavier car than a 205.

OK then, I'll be using the car on the road, so I should be fine :).

No loop fitted on mine, it does get very hot though being turbo and a full engine bay so I expect the seals in the rack wont last as long as they should.
