Reg Plate Numbers For Buying Parts

Recommended Posts

PeterGriffin

Been on a few motor factors recently, and lots offer to look up your car using the reg. Lots of people on here have a hodge podge of parts from different cars holding their pride and joy together, so I wondered if it would be worth having a list of reg numbers for different donor cars which we can all ctrl-V into these websites.

I have a Peugeot 406 1.8 to kick things off, for the non-abs master cylinder....

S364 CWK

I could use number for a Xu9J4 mi16 if anyone has one?

Just google whatever car you want and use the reg off an image.

Miles

Makes no difference at all, just speeds up the car details but parts are rarely right due to 2 or 3 options normally listed

I rarely use a reg, just tell them what car it off.

Your 1.8 non abs for example, is the same as any other non-abs 406.

1.9 mi16s, or bx 16v's, there arent many specific differences applicable to a 205!

Even with the reg, my local factors couldnt tell me if an 02 c5 110hdi estate had 283 or 288 mm discs, even if servicebox says exactly what it has

i work in a parts shop, and the reg gives us chassis numbers etc to help. but peugeots are always a knightmare as there is always choices. servicebox is good, but you need a proper log in, some motors factors sadly arnt willing to go the extra mile to find this out. luckily at my place we have it to help us out, but even service box can have choices!!

you don't need a "proper" log in for servicebox, the standard non subscriber login is more than sufficient.

typically with the VIN number used, especially with stuff less than 15 years old, servicebox will nail the exact part even if there are half a dozen variants.

thankfully with the older stuff there was far less variation.
