406 Hdi Clutch Prices..

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

what sort of money am I looking at do get the clutch done?

Its a 406 hdi 90,without dmf (handy!) on a 53 plate.

A pal of mine reckons I wont get much change from £500... Is this true?! That's got to be worth more than the car itself!!

Anyway, any info gladly received!

Cheers

GSF list a clutch kit at £116 (o.e.m is £234)

Its a 5.6 hour job according to Autodata, so depends what the labour charges are in your area.

Clutch kit from eurocarparts for luk is £87.60 or a cheaper one for £63.60 http://www.eurocarparts.com/clutch-kit

Have done a few of these clutches including my own car at the time last year and they are a easy clutch to do, had it done in less than 3 hours. Think autodata are very generous on there times for this job. Hopefully you will find someone to do it at a reasonable price cause the clutch kit isn't expensive.

Have a good check of the clutch before you go to the hassle of changing it , I did mine on my 406 estate HDi 90 last year . I paid about £90 for the clutch and did it myself using an engine support bar from Machine Mart . The 90 BHP version has a solid flywheel and no intercooler so there is less to go wrong .These cars have a hydraulic clutch and my pedal can sink a little every now and then , I just put my toe under the pedal and lift it up to the top . I have looked for a clutch master cylinder and they are not that expensive but the car drives fine most of the time . Check this is not the cause of your low pedal / difficulty engaging a gear etc . Would be a lot easier changing that instead of the clutch !
