Difference Between Grp4 Wheels And Normal

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

I'm just trying to figure out if a pair of wheels have grp 4 inserts or standard inserts (ford wheels)

They're steel inserts in alloy wheels, for tapered nuts.

Would I be right in thinking that a grp 4 insert would have a larger internal diameter than a standard, to locate the wheel on the chunky studs?

Are there any other differences?

what sort of I/D would the group 4 inserts be? I assume if the difference is the I/d, then measuring that would tell me which they are?

Thanks in advance

Grp 4 stud http://grp4fabrications.com/product_info.php?cPath=46&products_id=80

Standard stud http://grp4fabrications.com/product_info.php?cPath=46&products_id=224

The grp 4 fit wheels will have a larger hole, standard wheels should have possibly a 12mm hole as the standard studs are 12mm.

You can fit grp4 fitment wheels on standard type studs using these http://grp4fabrications.com/product_info.php?cPath=46&products_id=235

This is the exact set up I run.

I have oz rally race group 4 magnesium wheels with steel inserts. They are forest spec ones so I'll never break them!

I have 20mm conversion spacers for the ford centre bore, conversion studs taking the peugeot thread pitch to the ford, then the above group 4 nuts. ( I has the rears turned down a couple mm so the 7j wheels don't rub)

It works out quite pricey. However they run super straight. At some rpm near the top of 5th doing some mph I get zero wheel wobble.
