You should be seeing ads for various specialist insurance companies at the top of this page.

I'm currently using Greenlight.

I use Adrian Flux.

However, you never know how good or bad a company is until you have to make a claim.

Fingers crossed! ;)

footman james, but they won't cover modified cars any more. i went with greenlight who were cheaper and you build up ncb.

Another greenlight here fully comp, now on modified insurance too that was even free of charge to upgrade, they didn't even charge me to update the policy. All round excellent service BUT as iplod999 said above you never know how good they are until something bad happens and you have to ring them.

Adrian flux are terrible from my personal experience. Their moto is oh it's someone else's fault blah blah.

Good with green light tomorrow after they quoted me happy

I can vouch for both Greenlight & also Need 2 Insure for good quality, decent classic policies :)

I used Performance Direct. Got a few quotes and they were by far the cheapest. They even have real people that answer the phones quickly when you call them, so i'm sticking with them!

Another vote here to avoid AF. In my experience they have been next to useless.

I have my car insured with Heritige an its about £140 pa which is very good but then I do have limited mileage on that. That is with agreed valuation and salvage retention.

I can also highly recommend Hagerty.

Depending on the company in order to get a classic policy you may need to have the use if another car (eg the 205 is not your main car) and your annual mileage may be restricted. Depends on the company though.

Awesome, cheers guys will get some quotes at the weekend. It's 100% standard and it's just a 'toy' I restored a few years ago my daily is a far more sensible Clio 182.

I'll let my FIVE YEARS WAITING FOR A SINGLE PENNY ONGOING CLAIM with flux speak for itself.

three words

greenlight

greenlight

greenlight

got both the 205 and 'project x' insured with them, spot on every time I speak to them.

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try if you like. If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Regards,

Dan.

I just went on Go Compare to have a nose as my 1.6 is almost complete.

£90 for the year with no no claims. Getting old does have its good points!

I'm with Hagerty on a classic policy - I've used then for various cars, from high value 'modern classics' to my 205, and they've always been competitive.

To be honest I've found most insuance companies a PITA when it comes to having to actaully deal with a claim or anything actually post handing over the premium. 'Oh what's that Sir? you need to make a change to the policy? That'll be £30 admin charge for the 8 seconds it took me to change your address...what do you mean you could have done that yourself online and saved us the hassle? Cough up the £30, you're our little b*tch now"

HIC were most friendly and quite knowledgeable on the modifications on mine, and were very competitive. I only moved away from them to Greenlight when they were competitive on the 182 Clio i had.

The only issue i had with Greenlight is there were very funny about insuring certain things, i wanted to swap from my 182 to the GTI-6 when the belts needed doing and they said it 'was too cheap a car' which really threw a spanner in the works and i ended up taking out a second classic policy to cover it.

Never had any bother insuring any car with HIC, so either company is decent to deal with, i favour HIC simply because in all the time ive been with them ive never had a problem.

Cheers, I'll be sure to do the rounds on Saturday, I also have a Clio 182 as a daily and the insurance is due soon so I will have a crack at getting both cars with one company if it works out.

Greenlight seem to be very reasonably priced I might give them a call . I have been using Richard Hosken for a few years now and have found the quotes very good and any policy changes are done with very little hassle .Like most classic policies you need an everyday car with the classic as a garaged 2nd car usually on a limited mileage .I pay about £170 for my Goodwood - not too bad for a London postcode and that includes breakdown cover .I deliberately bought my wife a 15 year old 306 cabrio to get classic insurance and that is also around £160 a year from the same company .306 Rallye next maybe .
