What's This Plug For?

Recommended Posts

dobboy

On the wiring loom there is a little bit of loom that pops up near to where the throttle cable attaches.

There is two plugs on it, a grey plug and a black two-pin plug.

The grey plug is for the MAP sensor, anyone any idea what the black plug is?

Thanks

Nope Slo, it's only long enough to sit around, or likely below the throttle.

Only reason i ask is it looks remarkably like this mystery plug I had trouble with and that turned out to be the live feeds for the engine management (grey wire) as well as the starter motor relay feed (yellow wire)

Like Chipstick says, it's an unused spare on a GTi-6/VTS loom

The plug for the fuel inertia switch looks quite different and is located over near the ECU and injection relay.

 yes it was very messy towards the end there having little time and no help and no room for anything I resorted to laying in it a lot.

Much tidier nowadays though.

I'm having problems with my starter motor running while the engine is running. Where did you find the starter motor relay feed (yellow wire)? The starter motor seems to be getting constant 12v feed and sticks on even when you've stopped turning the key. Sorry to jump onto this feed but I need help with finding an answer to this starter motor sticking.

Thanks Alex

Hi sorry, it's a 1.9 8v XU engine. Just noticed this post is for XU 16v. My bad, I did a search for starter motor sticking and it brought this post up.
