A Few Questions

Recommended Posts

Afternoon gents, i have a few questions if anyone can help

1. I bought my subframe aswell as some 309 wishbones and now need some hubs to go with them so i can make it a rolling shell again, i had read that the 1.6 and 1.9 hubs are different with bigger bearing in the 1.9 (?) But the 1.6 has a wider offset (?) Is this correct? I may end up having to make a custom hub with the honda splines in the inside or get custom shafts with honda/peugeot ends so width may not be a problem but id imagine the larger bearing is advantageous.

Which would you recommend?

2. As i have a big box of bolts and no idea where they came from does anyone know the size of, or couls take a picture of the bolts that bolt the subframe to the chassis? The 4 at the back under the car next to what i think is the arb mount points.

3. On the base model subframe i have it has a steering rack too, are these racks the same as the gti? Or should i get the gti one. And is there a difference between the gti models or a rack i should aim to get?

Thanks

1. That's right. The 1.9 uses the large wheel bearings from the bigger Peugeots like the 306. 1.9 hubs also have the correct offset for all the common brake upgrades (206, 306, 307). 1.6 hubs use the smaller bearings from base model 205s, but also have a weird offset that makes brake upgrades difficult.

2. The subframe bolts are all 10x1.5mm. The four rear ones are 60mm long, and the two front ones that go into the chassis legs are 50mm long.

3. Apart from the connection to the steering column which is either square or splined based on age, the racks are the same on all 205s. So the GTI uses the same racks as any other model.

Ah awesome, for a brake upgrade id be going for some 4 pots or something rather than a standard upgrade so i duno whether thatd make much difference, i had dynalites with 305 disks on my last 205 on the 1.6 hubs so im not sure which to buy. I want the wider track to suit the dimma arch but as i say the bigger bearing may prove better, and the fact i can make spacers or a thicker hub may sway the vote for the 1.9

Ill use the rack i have then i guess, one less cost lol. Ill get some holts sorted out too, i had the front 2 bolts but i dont think i have the back set

thanks
